Deciding Where to Go
Do you know the best place to go when your child is sick?
Urgent Care
Accidents and unexpected illness happen. When you need immediate pediatric treatment for non life-threatening injuries and illnesses, choose Kidmed. We’re open 7 days a week 10am – 8pm to offer comforting care. We provide nearly all the services available at a traditional pediatric office, with the added convenience of digital x-ray machines and lab testing onsite. Most procedures are covered by insurance and self-pay discounts are available.
Conditions that are well-suited for Urgent Care include:
- Fever with “colds”
- Sore throats
- Rashes
- Earache/Ear discharge
- Few episodes of mild/moderate vomiting/diarrhea without lethargy
- Mild cases of yee discharge or redness
If your child is still able to walk, talk, play and interact, it’s most likely not a medical emergency, and an urgent care is a good choice for care.
Emergency Room
- Is less than 2 months old with a fever
- Has a high probability of a broken bone (especially if there is severe trauma)
- Suffers open cuts on the face or other lacerations that are large and would require suturing if the child may need sedation
- Is gasping for air
- Has changes in the level of consciousness, lethargy, or loss of consciousness
- Seizures
- Has severe chest pain
- Develops a fever after a medical procedure
- Develops an illness after surgery
You should also head to the ER when parental instincts suggest that the condition is an “emergency”. You know your child best!
