Coastal Coalition for Children

Coastal Coalition for Children’s mission is to promote child well-being by giving families the tools they need to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes. We accomplish our work through Healthy Families®, a nationally accredited home visiting program and signature program of Prevent Child Abuse America. Our services strengthen families with children beginning prenatally to age five. This is when vital early brain development occurs. Family Support Specialists provide valuable education, resources, and tangible support using an evidence-based curriculum. Research shows that children enrolled in Healthy Families® are ready to start school along with their peers. When parents bond with their infants, understand their development and find joy in their parent/child relationship, it is those things that ensure children thrive in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

Our other hallmark program, Grandparent Connection also includes home visiting and supports grandparents, legal guardians, or other kinship placements who find themselves caring for minor children when the child’s natural parent cannot care for them for a variety of reasons including mental health issues, drug use, extreme poverty or abandonment. Our staff supports healthy development and addresses issues that may arise from the child’s past experiences. We provide monthly support groups, home visits, mental health consultations, tutoring for children who are behind grade level, and other community services.
